I love leather. It’s got to be one of my favorite materials. It can take something simple and turn it into something magical. It’s that stand out fabric that doesn’t have to try that hard. It takes little accessorizing or thinking about what to wear with it because leather and a simple tee is all you need to be a model off duty. And boy do I miss it. It’s hot hot hot here in California, but I’m dreaming of cozying up to my leather pieces. So I decided to bust them out before the weather has cool and give them a spin that’ll work with the heat. Pairing a boho-feeling, white blouse with my leather mini and some slip-ons creates a perfect ensemble for this time of fashion transition.

LACOSTE AND LINEN

IMG_4021

I’M NOT THE BIGGEST FAN OF LACOSTE. I DON’T KNOW IF ITS BECAUSE POLOS AS EVERYDAY WEAR FREAK ME OUT OR THAT I JUST DON’T HAVE MUCH OF THAT PREPPY SPIRIT AS FAR AS MY FASHION IS CONCERNED. WHATEVER IT MAY BE, I HAD TO MAKE AN EXCEPTION FOR THIS LACOSTE SWEATER, AS I CAME ACROSS IT IN A GOODWILL. I HAD SO MANY VISIONS FOR IT. I DREAMT OF THIS GORGEOUS PIECE PAIRED WITH A FABULOUS PAIRED OF RIPPED, TATTERED AND TORN HIGH-WAISTED BOYFRIEND JEANS OR WITH THE PERFECT PAIR OF SATIN JOGGERS.  IT’S JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PREPPY MEETS VINTAGE FOR IT TO BE A GOOD ADDITION TO MY CLOSET; IT ISN’T ONE OF THOSE ITEMS I “NEED” THAT ENDS UP SITTING THERE COLLECTING DUST. RATHER THAN JEANS OR JOGGERS, I PAIRED THIS LITTLE, CREAM SWEATER WITH A PINK, LINEN DRAWSTRING SKIRT AND MY GO-TO BIRKENSTOCKS. IT’S WARM HERE IN SUNNY SOUTHER CALIFORNIA, BUT THE SWEATER IS CROPPED AND LINEN LIGHT KEEPING ME COOL ON THIS GORGEOUS, BLUE-SKIES ONLY DAY.

Mix Master

IMG_0214 While online shopping at Nasty Gal, these high-shine leggings caught my eye right away. I was swooning. They were fitted but not overly tight like your standard leggings. High rise. HIgh shine. Low price. They had it all. Add to bag and purchased. 3 to 5 business days later they arrived on the mosaic table outside my front door. I ran to my room, opened them, and threw them right one. I was in pleather heaven. I have two pairs of leather-like pants, but neither of them have this much shine. Patent pants were a great addition to my closet. And then I started dreaming of how to wear them, and I ran into a wall. A wall that screamed kinda slutty; these pants could easily take that turn from High-Fashionville to Hookertown. I squashed these thoughts faster than they could come oozing out of my head by running to my closet and putting together a few outfits that would be banned from Hookerville. I needed to mix these leggings with something completely opposite of them. So I did.  The outfits were lady-like and classic, yet had some personality and funk. These pants gave my simple, longer blouse an edge that it needed. They took my sweaters that I thought were kinda boring and gave them life. And then I came across my cream blouse from Banana Republic and it was so bohemian and pretty.  I thought, what a incredible contrast that style blouse would create when paired with not-so-boho leggings. So I added some fringe and turquoise, topped it all off with a floppy hat, and that was that – the perfect mix of boho and edgy. Floral. Duh.

Sometimes, I put on an outfit and it speaks to me but not in the way that leaves me with something to write about. I just like it, okay. I love this outfit, but the only thing I can praise is the $2.50 muscle tee. I could wear it with almost everything. It’s long enough to wear with something mid-rise, yet short enough for all my high-waisted beauties. It hangs loose, yet fits well. It has it all, and I think you all should run out and buy one. It’s great for looking sexy and carefree at the same time or for throwing on during those days when you have no idea what to wear. If you do not think it is for you, then buy 10 for a friend. Pair it with an amazing hat or leather jacket and grungy lipstick. They’ll wear it once and then they won’t know which fashion god hit them.  And they’ll have you to thank for that. Bodycon Lovin’

I recently bought this dress at Forever 21 (without trying it on) thinking that a turtle neck combined with a body in dress would make the dress less Las-Vegas-club attire. I put it on at home and my mind wandered to Sin City. Girl’s weekends, $15 well drinks, and the lights of the Strip were all I could think about. And as much as I love Vegas, I was not headed that way, and I didn’t want to look as though I was. I figured there was some way I could take this dress and turn it into everyday wear and there was. A shapeless, fringed kimono and my New Bs were the perfect combination of bohemian and sporty. I no longer looked ready for clubbing but rather, paired with some nude lip stick and Turquoise Camilla Earrings  by Manic, this outfit was ready for my everyday shenanigans.
