Summer Meets Fall

I love this outfit; the boho, crocheted duster screams summer and is perfectly juxtaposed by the all black that screams fall. It’s the perfect outfit for this transitory period from summer to fall fashion. It can be hard to find that balance, and I think this outfit does just that.

Anything but Basic

There’s something about statement, bold prints that I just can’t get away from. I’m constantly thinking ‘buy more basics’ when shopping online or skipping through the mall. But I can’t help myself; I guess I’m just not a basic bitch. I love mixing prints and layering pieces over pieces over pieces. I love things like a printed, shift dress, like this one from Soft Joie. It’s perfect enough to stand alone. But ‘one is the loneliest number,’ so why wear one piece of clothing when you could wear two or three or four. If I’m going to go basic, it still has to have pizazz. I’m thinking a monochromatic look with bold shapes or an overdose of accessories or those layers I mentioned before.

Yes. A dress over some denim.

IMG_4034Denim is great, and dresses are fab; paired together we have ourselves a whole new fashion ball game. It’s a match up so bizarre that I can’t help but be obsessed; I’m fully manic over it. It gives life to pieces in my closet that I’m losing interest in quickly (happens way too often). I love finding new ways to wear pieces and making them feel brand new to me. The boho, Free People midi dress juxtaposed perfectly with my distressed boyfriend jeans; the dress so feminine and free-spirited, whereas, the jeans are grungy and tomboy-esque. Paired with some chunky, wooden heels and layers upon layers of necklaces and I’m set to take on the day.

Short Story

Shorts are a challenge. For us at least. Too long, too short. Too bland, too much. Too high-rise, too low-rise. Too tight, too loose. Too these-are-doing-nothing-for-my-legs-so-looks-like-I’ll-just-cover-them-forever. So we assume with all these issues surrounding shorts there are others out there struggling to find this summer staple that they love. And if you’re fortunate enough to have found that great pair of shorts, maybe you’re struggling making outfits with them and breathing life and personality into them. We’re here to inspire and help you get out of that rut. We LOVE our boyfriend jeans, but some days it’s just too damn hot to be in ankle grazing denim. Your search for the perfect pair is over; we’ve done our research to find some shorts  that will show off your gams, help you looking chic, and keep you cool all summer long.

Mix Master

IMG_0214 While online shopping at Nasty Gal, these high-shine leggings caught my eye right away. I was swooning. They were fitted but not overly tight like your standard leggings. High rise. HIgh shine. Low price. They had it all. Add to bag and purchased. 3 to 5 business days later they arrived on the mosaic table outside my front door. I ran to my room, opened them, and threw them right one. I was in pleather heaven. I have two pairs of leather-like pants, but neither of them have this much shine. Patent pants were a great addition to my closet. And then I started dreaming of how to wear them, and I ran into a wall. A wall that screamed kinda slutty; these pants could easily take that turn from High-Fashionville to Hookertown. I squashed these thoughts faster than they could come oozing out of my head by running to my closet and putting together a few outfits that would be banned from Hookerville. I needed to mix these leggings with something completely opposite of them. So I did.  The outfits were lady-like and classic, yet had some personality and funk. These pants gave my simple, longer blouse an edge that it needed. They took my sweaters that I thought were kinda boring and gave them life. And then I came across my cream blouse from Banana Republic and it was so bohemian and pretty.  I thought, what a incredible contrast that style blouse would create when paired with not-so-boho leggings. So I added some fringe and turquoise, topped it all off with a floppy hat, and that was that – the perfect mix of boho and edgy. Bodycon Lovin’

I recently bought this dress at Forever 21 (without trying it on) thinking that a turtle neck combined with a body in dress would make the dress less Las-Vegas-club attire. I put it on at home and my mind wandered to Sin City. Girl’s weekends, $15 well drinks, and the lights of the Strip were all I could think about. And as much as I love Vegas, I was not headed that way, and I didn’t want to look as though I was. I figured there was some way I could take this dress and turn it into everyday wear and there was. A shapeless, fringed kimono and my New Bs were the perfect combination of bohemian and sporty. I no longer looked ready for clubbing but rather, paired with some nude lip stick and Turquoise Camilla Earrings  by Manic, this outfit was ready for my everyday shenanigans.
